My thoughts from studying this issue is issue is that global warming is true just as acid rain and smog turned out to be true.
The irony of the situation is that it is a solvable problem if we are willing to make changes in the way the humans choose to live their lives.
Amory Lovins is just one person with solutions: http://www.rmi.org/
The problem I see is that we may be near a ‘tipping point’ where more arguing whether global warming is true or not we will pass the time when changes
will have an impact.
The issues we are facing with CO2 today is a result of over 200 years of spewing CO2 in the atmosphere. The time it would take to reduce CO2 levels
that were in place 200 years ago will take about the same time it took to raise them.
There are some who are saying we must act now; the solutions are only a matter of the human species willing to act and act now.
My final opinion is that by the time we, as a species, find out about global warming and its effects I will be dead.
That is why I have said people need to be asking the question about global warming and its effects on the human population because the final answer
will be faced by our children all over the planet.

Anyone who doesn't believe in global warming is a moron. And another thing - November 16th and it was 78F and sunny in Sracmento.

That's a very scientific study you've conducted there King. One data point!
Well, in my scientific study, it was 40 degrees and windy on the same day.
Calling somebody a moron without command of any facts isn't very clever. I'm not saying that a there isn't a human factor in climate change, but I
believe that it is highly overstated.

Yeah, it's all this room in the comfortable center of the debate that has allowed us to progress so far in our understanding of the issue.
Because, you know, it is a black and white/ right or wrong/ absolute good versus absolute evil issue.
Oh well, guess that makes me a moron
Does that mean I can start changing lanes without signalling now?

Stomburps? I sorta like that...
Havent they done calculations that show if they dump a billion pounds of iron fillings in the ocean, it would create a plankton bloom that would in
turn increase the rate that carbon was scrubbed from the atmosphere?
That's a pretty cool solution, if true.
I think that I would feel more comfortable enacting this solution if it could be proven to solve the problem
In order to be certain that we can resolve global warming, dont we need to know the first thing about weather control?

Nearly everyone believes in global warming -- it's catastrophic human-caused global warming that is the view of morons!
And there is NO TIPPING POINT for 30+ years. In 2040, I'll be 84 and collecting of this bet as a negative PDO and weak Sun dominate whatever
piddly-ass human-caused global warming you Gaia worshipping morons are hyperventilating about. So quit hyperventilating; you'll cut your carbon
footprint in half.
It's all about taxes and control, cause liberals are tired of getting their asses kicked on terrorism, so they concocted this scare to counter that
hype. So instead of one overreaching, intrusive policy, we now have two hot steaming piles of crap to tax and restrict individual rights over.
Homeland security restrictions will be nothing compared to the environmental whackos that love the earth -- it's just the people on it they
can't stand!

sidecross - you've messed up again on chaos. It looks like you're mixing probabilistic theories of Heisenberg and Schrodinger, with Lorenz. Chaos
is about small changes in initial or interim conditions yielding huge unpredictable variations.
And my children WILL NEVER have to deal with the affects of human-caused global warming -- unless you're talking about the taxes and high energy
prices that will result when carbon cap and trade credit systems get implimented (while Gore gets absurdly rich, subsequently gets investigated by the
FEDs, the gets indicted). The unintended consequences of that absurd derivative policy will be the subject of an economic "we f-ed up" analysis for
decades.

Rachel Carson who wrote Silent Spring in 1962 warning of the dangers of pesticides and DDT did not receive large approval from then scientific
community when the book was first published.
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), along with other chlorine- and bromine-containing compounds, have been implicated in the accelerated depletion of ozone in
the Earth's stratosphere were thought to be harmless until proven otherwise.
While less than 10% of climate scientists today still question the science on global warming only sbayfan in this thread has linked the global warming
question to a ‘conspiracy’ of high taxes, high energy costs, carbon caps, and trade credit systems.
sbayfan’s argument as he as stated is pathetic and mocks his own concern in questioning Dantrez’s teacher’s credentials.

Where did CFC's and the OZONE come from? Is this your manufactured retort because it's now obvious YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT re
Chaos Theory?
DB's teacher is NOT A PHYSICAL SCIENTIST - I WILL BET ON IT! A physical scientist cringes at Gore's interpreting the graph corellation backwards in
An Inconvenient Truth. They cringe at much of the science in the first half of that film...
As usual, sidecross, you're ignorance betrays you as the Gaia worshipping whackjob who loves earth, but just hates the people on it. You can't wait
for energy prices to skyrocket again with Cap and Trade, the oil price crash being a clear thorn in your environmental stewardship intrusive glee.
Aside from that, you're really pissed because your religion is being attacked! DB's pastor 'er teacher is an scientifically ignorant hack perhap
representing your congregation -- perhaps he's even a deacon in your church?

And where's the probabilistic linkage in the wiki article, especially re: climate? If that's the best you've got, I rest my case.
linusalf -- back off man, I actually have the requisite scientific background (degrees and study) and I'm pretty sure you don't. Conspiracy
theories and right wing are your invention/interpretation, not mine. The bad science is Gore's (peer-reviewed science and case law are on my side),
which relegates his book/film claims to good religion for the likes of the faithful like sidecross.
Many of my views are in prestigious company, Freeman Dyson, Richard Lindzen among others, vs. your appeals to consensus authority from those suckling
on the AGW tit -- demolished in debate like Gore, Mann, Hansen (who just got through making yet another enormous screw-up 2 weeks ago). But that's
another story -- DB's teacher is a physical science quack, but neither of you could tell the difference. Preacher Gore's quackiness is self-evident
and well documented... again, it appears neither of you could tell the difference.
Pick your best Gore catastrophic human-caused global warming evidence or threat, and I will lay out evidence that it's shaky at best. We'll let the
Oakballer's decide? Take your best shot, but please be at least somewhat specific. sidecross's 90% claim for instance is bogus on many levels,
however if restrictive enough (he quotes dated and dubious historian Oreskes vs a practicing climate scientist like von Storch who actually surveys
and continues to survey climate scientists -- NO WHERE NEAR 90%)! We'll set aside for now that consensus science, like eugenics, is actually
science.
But I digress -- game on, moron? Or just make a catastrophic human-caused global-warming wager regarding "today’s children that will face the
answer of ‘global warming’"... I'll more than likely take the other side.

Have you ever considered sbayfan that you might have a mental health problem?
I have not once mentioned Al Gore or his film or book in any of my posts; I have neither read his book nor seen his movie. I have never mentioned in
my posts any reference to the Gaia Hypothesis either.
Besides reading most current news on global warming I have read the following books:

he also serves as Director of the Center for the Environment.
